Kapiolani Blvd. Sewer Siphon Reconstruction
This project involved design of a new sewer main siphon crossing under the Manoa/Palolo Stream. Trenchless directional drilling utilized to minimize impact to the stream crossing. Project challenges included crossing a diurnal stream which is a major drainage way for mauka lands. The crossing site being adjacent to a residential area also presented the challenge of noise mitigation and providing access during construction.
Project highlights included new sewer main siphon crossing under stream, trenchless directional drilling, design of 800 linear feet of 8", 10" & 12" VCP sewer main, 1,400 linear feet of 8" & 12" HDPE, and 3 new sewer man holes.
