Makani Pilot Project
The Makani Pilot Project is a project of Google Inc. to deploy a 600kw Airborne Wind Turbine prototype on land owned and operated by Parker Ranch. There were four phases of the project: 1) Site selection and environmental due diligence; 2) Project investigation and environmental compliance; 3) Design and construction; and 4) Construction & Testing support services. In addition, Akinaka & Associates, Ltd. was responsible for overall project management, community outreach, public relations including site visits, coordination between contractor, owner and design team, and preparation of field reports for construction documentation. The team was led by Akinaka & Associates, Ltd. and included sub-consultants specializing in electrical engineering, structural engineering, surveying, archaeology Studies, land planning, geotechnical engineering, botanical surveying, biological consulting, and environmental research and services.
