Palani Transmission Main
The Palani Transmission Main project was a major component of the Hawaii County Department of Water Supply's North Kona Water system. It allowed the transmission of water from high level wells into the system. Design challenges included steep terrain conditions, limited road right-of-ways, and impact on traffic. To minimize impacts during construction, an alignment through private properties was necessary.
Highlights included the design of a 2.0 MG and 1.0 MG pre-stressed, post-tensioned concrete reservoirs, and the design of 5,500 linear feet of 8", 12", 16" & 20" water main.
